Paraguay vivió una situación crítica de abusos a los derechos humanos tras la fuerte represión con que las autoridades respondieron a la ola de protestas contra una iniciativa de enmienda constitucional que permitiría la reelección presidencial.
El uso excesivo y arbitrario de la fuerza resultó en el asesinato del joven Rodrigo Quintana, decenas de personas heridas, más de 200 detenidas, así como denuncias de torturas y malos tratos. También hubo denuncias de amenazas a periodistas por el simple hecho de ejercer su derecho a la libertad de expresión e información.
Firma ya esta petición para que las autoridades paraguayas:
- Investiguen las denuncias de tortura y malos tratos que se reportaron a partir del 31 de marzo;
- Investiguen y juzguen de manera independiente e imparcial el asesinato de Rodrigo Quintana;
Paraguay was living a critical situation of human rights violations after the tough government repression of protests against a proposed constitutional amendment to allow presidential reelections.
The excessive and arbitrary use of force to date has led to the murder of Rodrigo Quintana, dozens of wounded protestors, and over 200 detainees, as well as reports of torture and ill treatment. There have also been reports of threats to members of the press, simply for exercising their right to freedom of expression and information.
Sign now this petition so that Paraguayan authorities:
- Investigate the allegations of torture and ill treatment reported since Marc 31st.;
- Investigate and rule independently and impartially the murder of Rodrigo Quintana;
